LaLuxore readers will have a reaction to the name Bugatti.  Obviously!

It’s rare around these parts not to get bitten by the Bugatti “bug.”   To exacerbate this contagious spread of beauty, art and ideas, Mullin Automotive Museum has launched it’s exhibit titled “The Art of Bugatti.”

This show that takes an intimate peak into over a century of  Bugatti family ingenuity and creativity focusing on the Italian-born, French-based Bugattis.   A family lineage of accomplished sculptors, painters, furniture makers andcar collectors.

The exhibit in coastal Oxnard, features over 40 automobiles and an aircraft from Ettore Bugatti, nearly two dozen pieces of sculpture from Rembrandt Bugatti and more than 40 pieces of furniture from Carlo Bugatti.

Peter Mullin, the founder and chairman of the museum, is owner of the largest private collection of Bugattis in the world. The exhibit is his way of celebrating the achievements of the Bugatti family. “It was one of the rare artistic and artisanal families of the era. Everyone in the family just exuded huge artistic talent,” said Mullin.

The entire museum is devoted to the cars and artistry of the Bugatti family for the duration of the exhibition.  The exhibition runs through December 2014

For non-Bugatti fans, a visit to Mullin, may cause you to catch the “Bugatti bug.”  If you’re thinking, “uggh fancy cars,” think again, as these are more akin to works of art on wheels.

Can’t make it to the exhibit, the book of the same name The Art of Bugatti brings the heritage of this famous family of artists and innovators to life. With rarely seen historical photographs and documents, each car is presented anew in studio photography by renowned automotive photographer Michael Furman.
